Expectations | New Year 2020

My expectations for 2019 didn’t pan out.  Oh, for sure it was a good year as far as the usual subjects of weather, health, relationships, and personal growth …

But the most important event I was looking for did not happen.  Jesus did not come.

Most of you all are busy enjoying New Year activities today and I get that.  So I decided to keep this as brief as possible.  Mom and I are relaxing too.  We were up late watching fireworks displays on TV from around the world last night.  It was very entertaining and downright spectacular.

Then quite unexpectedly Mom said, “Wouldn’t it be great if the world celebrated the birth of Jesus at Christmas with as much enthusiasm?”

My heart just skipped a beat and those familiar Holy Spirit tinglings shot through me.

“Yes, Mom,” to her spontaneous remark.

We sort of lost interest in the TV soon after that and called it a night.

So here is my expectation – my hope – for 2020:

  1. I am praying that Jesus comes this year – PRAISE GOD!!
  2. I am trusting God for the promised GREAT AWAKENING in 2020 – THANK YOU, LORD!!
  3. All the usual good health, joy and peace this new year for my family, friends, fellow believers in Christ, and you readers of course!
  4. A national repentance and turning back to Jehovah God Almighty.
  5. In JESUS Name, MARANATHA 2020! MARANATHA 2020!
  6. And may there be THE BIGGEST FIREWORKS SHOWS WORLDWIDE AT THE SECOND COMING OF OUR LORD – or next Christmas, whichever comes first. Selah.

Vain Philosophies | A Reprobate Mind

Read Romans 1: 18-32

This video pretty much nails it for what I see happening in America today.  As individuals and as a nation, we need to listen to God’s warning about holding truth in unrighteousness.  To me that means calling good bad and bad good even when you know the difference.  It also means those who accept such lawlessness are just as guilty in God’s sight as those who have turned away from God.

Being influenced by vain philosophies instead of God’s Word therefore leads to what God Himself calls a reprobate mind in verse 28 of this passage of scripture.  We currently see a hate culture effect in our country instead of a love-thy-neighbor culture which Jesus commanded us to embrace.

There is hope in repentance, however.  As we wind up the year 2019, let’s pray for each other to come out of darkness with all of its false teachings.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we repent of our back-slidden ways and vain philosophies of man that have absolutely no validity by Your written Word.  LORD do not let us continue on our path of destructive hate and lawlessness that divides and dooms us to a reprobate mind.  We give You glory and thank you for Your Holy Spirit that guides, comforts, and corrects.  We believe and receive your Truth, the Everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ into our hearts and minds.  Amen!

The Reveal

The angel of the Lord to shepherds guarding their flocks nearby:

“Don’t be afraid! I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.” 

Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

Luke 2:8-14

Soon after, the baby Jesus was taken to the temple in Jerusalem by his parents, Mary and Joseph.  They dedicated Jesus to the Lord, according to Jewish Law.

Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying,

“Sovereign Lord, now let your servant die in peace, as you have promised. I have seen your salvation, which you have prepared for all people. He is a light to reveal God to the nations, and he is the glory of your people Israel!”

Luke 2:28-32

The world may prefer to take Jesus out of Christmas, but Almighty God places Baby Jesus right smack-dab in the middle of his biblical account of Christmas.  Without Jesus we would not have:

  • God With Us
  • Salvation
  • Peace to all nations
  • Good News
  • Great Joy
  • Mercy toward mankind – God’s Pleasure
  • Light to all nations

It’s all there.  God revealed in the flesh.  No word of a holiday or festivity on earth.  Just God doing his business on time as he promised.  Just a little something to bring us GREAT JOY.

Greater Things

A church block party last month was one of the greater things being done for the kids in the neighborhood.  The men of the church are always looking for creative ways to reach out to local kids.  This month they are hosting a Fall Festival for kids and families with lots of games, candy and fun.

We live in a small community of Alaska.  But we can still make a difference in our town.  Lives are touched at any location when God’s love is poured out like a river.

Men of the church, you are God’s grassroots leaders of our nation.  God bless you all and thank you for doing the greater things that many others overlook as insignificant!

Dan Dyer – Blessed Be

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. ~ I Peter 1:3 KJV

Read I Peter 1:1-9.

The more we praise Abba, our Father, the more we embrace the “lively hope” of our inheritance in heaven, through the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Our praise opens the pathway for love to invade our spirits, and renews our faith.

It is only by the power of God that we are kept strong in faith until the great revealing and salvation of our souls at the second coming of Yeshua Messiah.

Prayer: Mighty are your wondrous works on our behalf, Father, and Your Name is greatly to be praised. You are YHVH, my Elohim. Not just someone else’s god; but I declare to heaven and earth forever that You are MY GOD! Thank you for Your mercy and love for all; for sending your Son Jesus to die in our place and that our sin debt is paid in full. In the matchless name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus; PRAISE! PRAISE!! PRAISE!!! Amen.

If you have not yet received God’s gift of redemption and promise of eternal life through believing in Jesus, the important stuff you need to know is found in God’s Word.
