Yesterday I was mowing the lawn when a shadow passed over me. I looked up and a fledgling bald eagle was circling overhead low to the ground. I turned off the mower and stepped to the ground to watch.
Two seagulls were badgering the young eagle as it tried to avoid their assaults while practicing hunting techniques.
Higher up, I noticed Daddy Eagle evidently keeping a watchful eye on junior’s progress. When the two seagulls became too much for the youngster, Daddy Eagle swooped down and scared them off. He split them up so it was harder to gang up on his kid. Then Daddy Eagle returned to his sky-watching position above the fledgling and continued to circle. The seagulls were persistent. They returned again and again to harass the fledgling bird but Daddy Eagle rescued the youngster each time by splitting up the seagulls.
This pattern of assault/rescue repeated itself as I watched them all fly beyond my sight over the treeline.
I wondered at what I had just witnessed, as I see Bald Eagles on a daily basis; but have never seen that particular eagle behavior before.
Instantly I heard in my spirit,
“This is how I care for my children. I watch from a distance. As they are learning to fly I watch from my place higher up. I never leave them alone. I only intervene and deliver them from trouble when the pressure gets too great and they call out to me for help. Then I step in and warn those devil spirits to BACK OFF!”
Isaiah 40: 28-31 NKJV ~
28 Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the LORD,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
May Our LORD guide and protect you from trouble by His powerful loving kindness.
