The Blessed Promise

I hear so much these days about the rapture of the Church; our blessed hope.  I hold fast to that faith and in no way diminish the work of Christ regarding the rapture of believers.  Praise God!  But …I don’t hear as much about God’s promise of our eternal home and what it will be like for all those whose names are written in the LAMB’S BOOK OF LIFE.  Perhaps because it is not so controversial?  You know, it’s gotta be post-trib, right? – After the Great White Throne Judgement and all …

Whatever the reason, it is on my radar today to bring forward the testimony of Jesus; end time prophecy that thrills me every time I read it.  I prefer the Restoration Study Bible for this topic.  It has the Strong’s Dictionary which makes it so easy to research in the Greek.

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. ~ Revelation 21:1 RSB

And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from Elohim, Having the glory of Elohim. ~ Revelation 21:10-11a RSB

The Apostle John goes on to describe the new Jerusalem on a new earth that is a tremendous cube-shaped city measuring twelve thousand stadia per edge.  Can we get an amen for a base of 1.9 million square miles?  That is bigger than India, according to geometry gurus.

The city has walls of jasper and each floor ascending into the sky is made of a different gem – jasper, sapphire, chalcedony, emerald, sardonyx, sardius, chrysolite, beryl, topaz, chrysoprasus, jacinth, and amethyst  – twelve in all.  The entire city is made of pure gold that is somehow translucent.  We hear so much about transparency today.  Well, nothing will be hidden in our eternal home.  The whole city is transparent and God’s holy light will pass right through the floors and the walls.  Our new home is dazzling!

Even more important to me besides the opulence of the city is that it will be a place of perfect peace and tranquility with our Heavenly Father living there with us and his Son, the Lamb.  Check this out:

  • No temple – Elohim El Shaddai and the Lamb are the temple (Rev. 21:22)
  • No sun or moon – The glory of Elohim and the Lamb is all the light we need (Rev. 21:23)
  • It has twelve gates of pearl that will never be shut by day as there is no night there and no bad guys left to lock out (Rev. 21:24-27)
  • The river of life shall flow from the throne of Elohim and of the Lamb.  The tree of life will grow right in the middle of the street! (Rev. 22:1-2)
  • The earth will no longer be cursed.  No sin.  We shall be able to see the face of Elohim and worship him forever and ever.  He will be right there!  We will never be separated from him again.  His name will be on our foreheads.  There will only be his light and holiness – no darkness. (Rev. 22: 3-5)

This part gives me the most hope of all:

And Elohim shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. ~ Revelation 22:4 RSB

and

Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. ~ Revelation 22:7 RSB

Please pray for our brethren under severe persecution world-wide – especially India and Malaysia this week.  Few may realize that there are currently over one million Christians martyred globally per year.
