Let’s Go to Bethlehem!

The birth of Jesus occurred during a Roman tax decree, prompting Mary and Joseph to travel to Bethlehem. Soon after arriving, Mary went into labor and gave birth in humble surroundings. Shepherds, visited by angels announcing Jesus’ birth, found the family and shared the news, astonishing all who heard it.

Let’s Go to Bethlehem! And hurry, for our baby is due to be born any day!

Sure enough, Mary and Joseph no sooner arrived in the little town of Bethlehem than Mary began her labor. God provided them a quiet but humble place to spend the night so that Mary could rest and deliver their precious new baby, Jesus.

Not too far away, a few shepherds were tending their flocks of sheep when:

Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about. “They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. After seeing him, the shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. ~Luke 2:13-19

May your Christmas be a celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray that your knowledge of Him brings your household peace, abounding joy, and excitement that God sent His only Son to earth in order to make everything that is wrong in this world right again.

Love and prayers,

Sherron
