God’s Greatness

Sometimes I just tremble at the majesty of God’s Greatness.  It grips me and holds me spellbound in reverence and awe.  I feel smaller than a grasshopper in His Presence – mostly at night when the sky is clear, filled with stars I cannot count for number; or watching the sun set over the ocean.  His handiwork is magnificent to behold.  To think that He knows my name, the number of hairs on my head – that He cares when I stumble; makes my heart pound.

When fear and stress wage war within me, I cry out to Him to settle my spirit, because He promised:

“For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.” ~Isaiah 41:13 (KJV)

  1. YES! Tonight we were in the Jordanian desert with all the heavens spread out in their glory. The Milky Way was brilliant. We are to tiny and insignificant before such majesty, and yet THAT majesty is only a tiny reflection of YHVH’s Majesty!! There is no room for fear when we realize that we are in the loving Hands of the Creator! Thanks for sharing this.

    1. Thank you back for commenting. Our sky here in Alaska is not always clear, but when it is, the stars seem very close. It can be mesmerizing to the point of overwhelming during the winter months when the blackness of the sky magnifies the brilliance of the Milky Way (I like how you put it). Our sky is predominated by the Big Dipper, Little Dipper, North Star, Orion, and of course the moon with Jupiter and Venus showing up prominently of late. Anyway, as marvelous as the night display can be, it deserves no respect on its own, but only serves to glorify our Creator in His awesome greatness, as you say. I am praying for you in Jordan, and praising Him that you are safely in the Hands of our Creator. Yes, bowing to the Majesty of YHVH!

      1. AMEN!!! Our son lived in Homer, Alaska for four years, and we had the joy of visiting the Kenai Peninsula while he was there. We saw the sky you speak of, and one night we saw what we were told was the largest aurora borealis that Homer had seen in 50 years – amazing and glorious – “The Heavens Declare The Glory of GOD!!!”

      2. Oh, so special that you have been a visitor to the Kenai Peninsula. We have had really glorious northern lights this winter, and so glad you were able to see that one. God is so good to us. And to think we see but a speck of God’s Wonder! Peace and God’s blessings.
